A Royal expert says the Duchess of Cambridge is 'craftily' showing a common touch to keep her flying high in the popularity stakes.
Future Queen Kate has once again been spotted wearing bargain bling, and one Royal observer says this is in stark contrast to her sister-in-law Meghan.
On a recent visit to meet adults who had grown up in foster care, Kate was spotted wearing £2 fake gold hoop earrings. On the trip she was also wearing a coat and trousers from High Street retailer Jigsaw.
Writing on www.news.com.au Royal expert Daniela Elser said: "An intrinsic part of William and Kate’s jobs is to make the monarchy seem relevant with contemporary society which is where Kate’s wardrobe comes in.
"While she regularly wears pieces that cost well into the four figures, she also regularly deploys buys from brands such as Zara. These style choices make her seem in touch and relatable to the masses.
"In recent years she wore £8 petal drop earrings to the Chelsea Flower Show and opted for £5 gold hoops to speak to volunteers via a video call during the lockdown in 2020."
She said that Kate's fashion choices serve to remind the public that joining the Firm doesn't mean that she's lost touch with her common roots.
Ms Elser went on to contrast Kate's image with that of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
Ms Elser pointed out during her and Prince Harry's recent Oprah interview, she said the Duchess was pictured feeding the California couple's chickens in £4,000 diamond earrings, wearing a "bling" diamond and gold necklace in tribute to her children Archie and Lilibet and was also spotted wearing a £2,200 diamond ring during yet another TV interview on the Ellen show.

Ms Elser said while Meghan and Prince Harry are now free to splash their cash however they see fit after signing mega deals with Netflix and Spotify, she claimed the image of Meghan in expensive outfits and wearing expensive jewels did not fit in well with their efforts to promote their charity work.
A recent YouGov poll said 77 percent of people asked had a favourable view of Kate, compared to just 27 percent of Meghan.
