A police officer has been airlifted to hospital after a motorbike allegedly fleeing cops the wrong way down a motorway crashed into him.
Kent Police said they were responding to a report of a stolen motorcycle when the bike, which was allegedly being driven the wrong way along the clockwise carriageway, collided with a male officer according to the force.
The collision took place near to Junction 3 for Swanley on the M25, and the policeman was taken to a London hospital.
Kent Police added that the incident happened at around 4:05pm and that a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of offences including dangerous driving.
Both carriageways have since re-opened after an initial closure, but traffic remains heavily congested.
Kent Police tweeted this evening: "The M25 has reopened in both directions following an incident in which a motorcycle driving the wrong way near J3 for Swanley collided with one of our officers, causing him serious injuries.
"A man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Thank you for your patience."
People were quick to share their best wishes for the injured officer.
"Thoughts to officer injured, their family and colleagues and I wish the officer a speedy recovery physically and mentally. No one deserves to be injured on the job," a woman called Beth said in response to Kent Police's tweet.

Another woman, called Lee, added her wishes, saying: "Thoughts with all your team on scene. I hope the officer is ok."
British Transport Police tweeted from their London Victoria account with a similar message. "Best wishes from all of us to the officer involved and his family, both at work and at home. Wishing you a quick and trouble free recovery!" the tweet read.
Video shot at the scene, according to Twitter account London 999, showed traffic backed up and waiting patiently as a helicopter lifts off from the road which also has several police cars present.
