TIGER King Joe Exotic is set to be resentenced in 'trial error' after he was handed a 22-year jail term for the murder-for-hire plot of Carole Baskin.

The jailed star of the hit Netflix show was jailed in 2019 for paying ''hitman'' Allen Glover $3,000 to kill big cat rival Baskin.

He was also convicted on 17 federal charges of animal abuse such as killing tigers to make room for more big cats at his exotic animal park. 

And now the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit upheld the reality star's conviction on Wednesday but ordered him resentenced citing an error in the calculation of the sentence.

The federal court said that at the time of Exotic's sentencing in January 2020 the judge didn’t group together the two counts, despitethat they ''shared a common criminal objective.''

''Although the district court apparently thought that the two murder-for-hire plots shared a common criminal objective, it mistakenly (although quite understandably) thought that grouping would not be proper unless they were also part of the same course of conduct. This error in interpreting the guidelines requires reversal,'' the decision reads.

According to the court ruling if his two counts had been grouped together his prison term could have been as low as 17 and a half years.

Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage has always maintained his innocence and Team Tiger, a group of lawyers and supporters, has been working behind the scenes for his release.

His lawyer for the appeal, Brandon Sample, said in a statement on Wednesday he was pleased with the court's decision.

''I knew when I agreed to represent Joe that an appeal would be difficult but I also knew that the law was on Joe’s side.''

It comes as the 58-year-old reality star revealed in May he’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer and  begged to be freed from prison in order to get “proper medical care.”

He tweeted from Fort Worth Medical Center, Texas, where he's being held: ''John Phillips has received my medical records from FMC Fort Worth and my PSA count came back very high for prostate cancer. 

''The prison has approved testing to verify what stage it is in. 

''My body is tired, I have lost a tremendous amount of weight, the mouth sores are out of control, I throw up more than I eat.

“I don't want anyone's pity, what I need is when John Phillips gets the evidence he is working on, I need the world to help him get President Biden, VP Harris and the Attorney General to listen to the evidence. 

“And see that it’s not just city cops out of control with corruption, but his very own Department of Justice and make this right and sign that pardon that Trump left behind so I can go home and get proper medical care and proper food.

He had previously claimed he’s been "kidnapped" and demanded his release from prison in exclusive audio obtained by The Sun.

He pleaded for a presidential pardon and detailed his plans to become a die-hard civil rights activist.
