Lad, 10, left covered in blood after gang of hooded teens threw a brick at his head while ambushing him and his mates in a local park

A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy was left covered in blood after a group of youths 'launched a brick at his face'.

Logan Perberdy was playing at a rural park last Saturday near his home in Crewe, Cheshire, with a friend when they were ambushed by what they described as 'hooded teenagers'.

His family said the brick struck him on the side of the head with a brick so hard his skull was exposed.

Mum Clare, 42, explained : "He was just covered in blood it looked like half of his face was bleeding.

"My son was at the brook with a friend and a gang of lads wearing hoodies just appear on the bank on the footpath and as he turned round they had thrown a brick at his head.

"There had been no altercation no argument before it and then they ran off. All but one had a hood up ran off so they couldn't identify them."

The mum-of-three added: "It was just one quite deep gash which got blood all over his hand and T-shirt. It was terrifying for all of us, my husband and I were in utter shock too.

"When his friend said a brick had gone to his head we didn't actually imagine it would be an actual brick because of the way kids exaggerate, we just thought it would just be a pebble or something.

YOU WHAT?

Traditional sayings are at risk of going extinct – how many do you recognise?

"You tell them to be careful but you don't tell them watch out a kid might throw a brick at you."

Logan had his gash glued together in hospital, as there was not enough flesh to stitch it.

Now, Clare claims despite desperate attempts to find who is responsible, some lads at Logan's school have been boasting they threw the brick.

She said: "Bizarrely we have a couple of teenagers going into school acting the 'big I am' saying it's them, as for some reason they believe there's some kudos to be claimed for violence."

She added: "Kids are very resilient, [Logan] is now fine but he spent the rest of the weekend being quite shaken and not wanting to leave the house.

"He's going out again but now his friends are coming to pick him up and he won't walk to the park on his own but part of that is what we want too.

"It's scary that there are kids out there who will do that and somebody must know who it was."
