GABBY Petito became a household name in September 2021 after she went missing following a cross country road with her fiancé.
Throughout the case, Richard Stafford has been seen representing the Petito family as they continue to fight to figure out what happened to their daughter.
Who is the Petito family attorney Richard Stafford?
Richard Stafford is known as a Criminal Trial Attorney, who is also the owner of the Law Office of Richard B. Stafford, in Bohemia, New York.
Stafford is a Pennsylvania State University graduate and has been practicing since 2001.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he "handles all types of criminal cases from driving while intoxicated to murder."
Prior to starting his own law firm in 2004, Stafford worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
What did Richard Stafford say after the discovery of Brian Laundrie's body?
On October 20, 2021, skeletal remains were found while authorities searched for Petito's fiancé, Brian Laundrie.
The following day, the FBI determined that they were the remains of Laundrie, who was wanted by the FBI on bank fraud charges.

Following the discovery, Stafford then released a statement on behalf of the Petito family, who have been mourning the loss of their daughter, who was found murdered on September 19.
"They are grieving the loss of their beautiful daughter," Stafford said in a statement on behalf of Petito's parents, Joseph and Nicole, as well as her step-parents, Tara and Jim.
"Gabby's family will make a statement at the appropriate time and when they are emotionally ready."
The Petito family have been searching for answers for weeks and demanding the Laundrie family to speak, however, their attorney, Steven Bertolino, has since said that his clients may never speak of the case or their son.

Wyoming coroner Dr Brent Blue revealed that Petito's cause of death was strangulation and ruled it a homicide.
Throughout the case, Laundrie was a person of interest but it wasn't until the discovery of a notebook ,believed the belong to him, that he was named a person of interest in her murder.
At this time, it remains unclear if Laundrie had anything to do with Petito's death as it is still unknown with his own cause of death was.
