Fraudster claims he tried to steal £5.6 BILLION in money transfer scam because Jesus told him he deserves to be rich

A HOLIER-than-thou fraudster said he set up a £5.6 billion bank transfer scam because Jesus told him he deserved to be rich.

John Haskew's god awful excuse emerged after he was caught trying to swindle the giant sum from “a large, nationally renowned financial institution” in the US.

“(Haskew stated) that Jesus Christ created wealth for everyone," according to prosecution documents.

"Using this scheme, Haskew believed that he could obtain the wealth that Jesus Christ created for him and that belonged to him.”

Jobless Haskew, of Florida, came up with the scheme as a way to repay a debt to the federal government, the court papers say.

Investigators were tipped off in December that Haskew had set up 70 wire transfers totalling more than $7 billion.
