'Murdered' girl, 5, smiles in sweet school photo as mum, 41, appears in court charged with daughter's death

A SWEET five-year-old girl has today been pictured as her mum appeared in court charged with her daughter's murder.

Little Aijah Thomas was found dead at an Ealing home on Tuesday with mum Martina Madarova, 41, later charged with murder.

A photo of little Aijah was revealed today, showing the five-year-old with curly pig-tails, smiling at the camera.

Cops were called to the home on Leyborne Avenue to conduct a welfare check when they found the "lovely" little girl.

Little Aijah was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Madarova appeared in the dock today wearing a grey prison-issued tracksuit at Westminster Magistrates' Court in central London.

She spoke only to give her name, date of birth and address during the two minute hearing before she was remanded in custody.

The Met Police confirmed this morning: "Detectives investigating the death of a five-year-old girl in Ealing have charged her mother with murder.

"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended. Despite their efforts, a five-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. She has since been identified as Aijah Thomas.

"Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for Thursday, 16 September."

Speaking earlier this week, a neighbour of the family said: "I'm so shocked because she was such a lovely little girl. She was shy and didn’t always answer me.

"She was always well dressed and looked after from what I could see."
