Summer Wells' dad Don JAILED over DUI arrest for 11 months as search for missing six-year-old continues

DON Wells, father of missing child Summer Wells, is behind bars for an October DUI arrest.

Wells made an appearance in Hawkins County General Sessions Court Monday, pleading guilting to driving under the influence.

The state dropped all the other charges from the October 30 arrest as a result.

A toxicology screen from the night Wells was arrested came back without any evidence of drugs, according to Wells. His blood alcohol screening returned with a 0.13 percent.

This is Wells’ first DUI, of which the mandatory minimum sentence is 48 hours in jail, 88 hours of community service, one year of a revoked license and a $350 fine.

The news comes as

  • Summer’s family celebrated the girl’s sixth birthday with a heart-wrenching video
  • Her mom calls the cops on Don after a violent fight
  • Parents release photos of what Summer might look like in disguise
  • Video shows Summer dancing hours before she vanished

However, the arrest violated Wells’ probation in connection to a previous possession of a handgun while intoxicated charge. Now, he must serve the remainder of his 11 months and 29 days at the Hawkins County Jail.

He was taken from the courthouse to the jail that same afternoon.

“Thanks to everyone for all positive support,” Wells wrote in a note passed to a News Channel 11 reporter. “It’s been very difficult.”

'A STUPID DECISION'

The Wells family issued a statement on their website dedicated to finding Summer, calling Donald's actions "stupid" and revealing that he'd been out driving in search of cigarettes at the time of his arrest.

Titled "Thank You For Prayers", the statement read: "[T]hank you everyone for kind messages.

"There are no words to what each day and night is like. We needed cigarettes. IT was a stupid decision. Please keep us in prayer. Keep Don. This pain wont go away. thank you."

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation continues to probe the disappearance of Donald's daughter Summer, who vanished under strange circumstances more than four months ago.

WHERE IS SUMMER?

Summer was last seen outside of her family's home in Hawkins County's Beach Creek Community, Tennessee.

Her family said at the time that she had been in the front yard planting flowers with her mother and grandmother when she disappeared back inside the home to play with her toys at around 6:30 pm. She was never seen again.

The family maintains that Summer was abducted by an unknown perpetrator, but so far no evidence has surfaced to support the theory.

The parents have been accused across social media of being involved in Summer's disappearance, even receiving death threats. However, they have vehemently denied those claims.
