This is the comical moment a bartender accidentally knocked a punter’s pint into his lap with a lime.

CCTV footage captured at Murtagh’s Bar and Lounge in Kingscourt, County Cavan, Ireland, shows 20-year-old John Oates play catch with a lime while stood just inches away from two punters who are enjoying pints together on January 28.

Just seconds later, the bartender misjudges his catch and the lime slips out of his hand, hitting the glass of one of the punters.

The lime slips out of the bartender’s hand and heads in the direction of the punter’s glass

The lime bounces off the side of the glass and knocks it over – sending the punter’s pint pouring into his lap.

Mr Oates later took to social media to share the clip with others alongside a post which read: ‘Reason number one why I shouldn’t work behind the bar.’   

Speaking today Mr Oates, from Kingscourt, Co Cavan, said: ‘I felt very bad at first and guilty. 

‘I gave them both a pint straight away and helped clean up the mess.’    

Following the scenes, viewers took to social media to share their comical reactions.  

One person wrote: ‘You couldn’t of done that if you tried.’

Social media users shared their reactions to the scenes, with one saying  ‘that lime had an agenda’

While another social media user added: ‘So new pint and dry cleaners.’

Another viewer commented: ‘How did it manage to get that much power to knock the pint over is what I’m wondering.’

Elsewhere another person said: ‘Shots fired! There must be a sport for you fella.’
