Royal fans could not help but notice that Prince Harry attended the Super Bowl without his wife Meghan Markle, instead opting for some family bonding with his cousin Eugenie.
The A-lister event was won by the Los Angeles Rams in the early hours of Valentine's Day at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
But it was the royals that dominated the chatter in some quarters, with one person suggesting that Meghan "let Harry off the leash" for the evening and another claiming Meghan had orchestrated her absence to generate reaction.
Taking to Twitter, the woman – called Karen – said: "Harry at the Super Bowl with Eugenie and not Meghan. Was he let of the leash? Is he realising that life is not what it should! Unusual to see him without Megs!"
Whilst the theory that he was "let off the leash" may be theorising, it is indeed unusual to see Harry without Meghan.
"It is not as if they do such a big thing without any thoughts behind it," another person added.
The prince, who now lives in the US, took in the game between Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals with his younger cousin – Prince Andrew's daughter – Eugenie, 31.
The pair were snapped taking in the eagerly anticipated half-time show featuring Dr Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Kendrick Lamar and surprise guest 50 Cent.
It is well documented that the pair are close, and that Meghan and Eugenie were friends even before the Sussexes got together.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Star that this link could "soften the rift between the Sussexes and the royal family."

He said: "The couples are close, Eugenie and Jack have been allowed the use of Frogmore Cottage, the Sussexes home in Britain as it is near to the Yorks, Eugenie's parents, who live at Royal Lodge in Windsor.
"This has been especially helpful after Eugenie gave birth to her son August last February. There are those who might hope that this friendship could help to soften the rift between the Sussexes and the royal family, with Harry's autobiography due out late this year."
The cousins sat in their luxury box and the NFL UK Twitter account shared the pic on their account, writing: "Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie in the house at #SBLVI."
Most fans commenting on the post were supportive of Harry and Eugenie.
One Twitter user wrote: "#PrinceHarry living his American dream. Good to see his cousin there with him #PrincesEugenie"
Another commented: "Love this Princess Eugenie has always had her cousin's back."
However, some thought there was more to the glaring absence of Harry's wife, Meghan Markle.
"Harry and his cousin at Super Bowl but not Meghan. What is this?" one person tweeted.
"Harry HATES cameras? Still they went and everybody is like ooooh where is Meghan. And Meghan L O V E S it," theorised one woman, perhaps wildly.
Another person said that they found it "funny" that "someone who loves the cameras wouldn’t show up to the biggest sporting event of the year in the US."
The couple do of course have two children, two-year-old Archie and Lilibet who isn't even one yet, so it is entirely possible that the Duchess was at home looking after them.
