US President Joe Biden has dragged his feet over a swift post-Brexit trade deal. He insists it is not a priority and has criticised the UK over the Northern Ireland Protocol. But the UK has a dynamic ‘Plan B’ that will see ministers launch a charm offensive on individual states like California and Indiana to get mini trade deals signed. Government insiders have not given up hope of signing a US-wide trade deal, but believe bypassing Mr Biden will enable them to sign multi-billion pound agreements at rapid speed.
A Department for International Trade insider told the Sun: “From York to New York, Birmingham in the Midlands to Birmingham Alabama – we want to turbo boost UK and US businesses
“When you look at the numbers, the wins on offer by bagging trade agreements with individual states are massive.
“California’s economy alone is larger than the economy of the whole of France.”

‘Anti-British’ EU slammed after claim UK ‘didn’t understand’ crunch Brexit vote
Britons have accused the EU of being anti-British after becoming enraged by recent European Parliament comments.
MEPs suggested they could have secured the vote for Remain if they campaigned to warn “often misled” supporters of the risk of Brexit, a report on the Article 50 process said.
It stated: “British citizens had scant knowledge about the European Union and were not adequately informed about the far-reaching consequences of the decision to leave the union.”
“Citizens were never given a clear picture of the relationship that their country would have with the EU once it left, and were often misled about the implications of the withdrawal, especially as regards Northern Ireland.”
