A live-stream video has revealed the terrifying force of Storm Eunice as the UK braces for a rare red warning weather event. Sky News posted a live camera feed from the Newquay coastline as waves begin to batter Cornwall. Viewers of the footage can see the ferocious waves crash into the Newquay coastline as they are whipped up Storm Eunice’s winds.
This comes as a major incident was declared in Cornwall ahead of Storm Eunice’s arrival.
Residents in Newquay, like in the rest of Cornwall, have been urged to stay at home and only travel on Friday if “absolutely necessary”.
The red weather warning is in place for Cornwall and Devon as well as the south coast of Wales today, according to the Met Office.
The forecaster raised the weather warning due to the combination of high tides, strong winds, and risk of storm surge.

Hundreds of schools have been closed down across the coastline, including in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and Bristol.
Cornwall Councillor Martyn Alvey, a cabinet member for the environment and climate change, said: “This is still an evolving situation, but we are expecting an extremely powerful winter storm, so our message to residents is to ensure you stay up to date with the forecast, and to avoid all non-essential travel during the storm.”
Earlier the morning, the Met Office added the east of England, including London, to Storm Eunice’s red weather warning area.
The rare highest alert – meaning a major impact is very likely – will now run from 10am until 3pm on Friday, due to fears of the storm “causing significant disruption and dangerous conditions due to extremely strong winds”.

The updated warning covers Greater London, Kent, Surrey, Essex, and East Sussex
People in the red warning areas have been urged to tie down objects in their gardens, fasten doors and windows and keep cars locked in garages if possible away from trees and walls.
Met Office warned that flying debris could result in danger to life.
They added that there could be damage to buildings and homes, transport links could be affected, power cuts could impact other services, and large waves and beach material could be thrown onto coastal roads, seafronts, and homes.
