Ladies Day at Sydney’s Rosehill Racecourse has made the flood-ravaged city a distant memory as a colourful parade of dressed-up race-goers made the most of the festivities.
Keen punters mixed with celebrities including Emma Freedman and Kate Waterhouse at the Chandon Ladies Day, which serves as the opening day of the 2022 Longines Golden Slipper Carnival.
Women were asked to wear ‘a touch of pink’ with their ensemble for the big day, with Australia’s best fillies and mares competing to claim the Group 1 Coolmore Classic race.

An after-party following the race program will see band Soul Nights run through ‘their repertoire of bangers’, according to the Australian Turf Club.
Plunging necklines, hats, glasses of bubbly and leggy displays were the order of the day as the ladies packed into pop-up bars while some entered the Autumn Fashion Stakes competition.
This year’s return of hard-partying race days to the social scene is one of the more welcome consequences of Covid restrictions ending in recent months.
Saturday’s event also includes the Pink Fashion Lunch, featuring special guest speakers with donations going to the McGrath Foundation.
Olympic diver and SAS Australia recruit, Melissa Wu will be speaking at the event, while Aussie singer Paulini will also be performing.
While not everyone observed the pink dress code, a mild 26C Autumn day in Sydney ensured there was plenty of skin on show as race-goers took the opportunity to fully glam up.

Saturday’s event marks just the first day of races in store for the upcoming carnival this month.
The Royal Randwick Raceday will kick off next Wednesday, followed by the Longines Golden Slipper Day on Saturday.
Rosehill will host the highly popular Stakes Day at the end of the month.
