Three teenagers who tragically died in a road smash have today been named by police as family and friends pay tribute.

The boys, all of whom were 16, have been named as Finlay Johns, Ian Cannon and Tyler Johnston.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the outskirts of Dumfries after reports came in just after midnight yesterday (16 March).

It was confirmed by police that the three friends were travelling in a Honda Civic which was involved in a two-car crash on the A711, Daily Record reported.

A fourth male who was also in the car is said to be in a serious condition.

Morgan McEwan paid tribute on social media: "It honestly breaks my heart writing this. I never thought I’d ever have to write anything like this. It’s so horrible to imagine what Finlay, Ian, and Tyler’s family are going through.

"Thank you so much Finlay for being there for me since I moved to Moffat and for being nothing but lovely."

Morgan went on to say: "Growing up with Tyler I know what a kind, amazing boy he is, it’s so heartbreaking that someone that you’ve known your whole life is just gone.
