A China Eastern Airlines aircraft has crashed carrying 133 passengers on board today, according to reports.
The flight from Kunming to Guangzhou had an "accident" in the region of Guangxi and caused a fire on the mountains, Chinese state television reported.
The jet involved in the accident was a Boeing 737 aircraft and the number of casualties was not immediately known, broadcaster CCTV said.
Emergency services and a rescue team are currently attending the scene.
In a statement regarding the incident, the Guangxi Emergency Management Department said: "A Boeing 737 passenger plane carrying 133 people from China Eastern Airlines crashed in Teng County, Wuzhou, Guangxi, and caused a mountain fire.
"At present, rescue teams have assembled and approached, and the casualties are unknown."
Video footage has begun circulating on Twitter showing a piece of the plane landing in the forest, however, it is currently unknown if this is close to the where the plane crashed or if it is a piece that came off before.
Some have speculated that large pieces of the plane's fuselage are what is visible in photos and videos by locals, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.
There has also been another video that shows large amount of smoke coming from behind trees in a forest.
