Excited Brits flocked to bars and clubs in their droves last night as they kicked off May bank holiday with a bang.

Late-night boozers dressed up to the nines were seen making the most of the first night of a long-awaited weekend.

It comes as thousands of partygoers are expected to hit pubs and clubs across the country over the next three days.

The weather is looking like it will be out for the fun-loving Brits too as England is set to be hotter than Maderia for the next few days.

Minus the odd shower dotted throughout the weekend, Brits will be able to soak in the sun with stunning 17C temperatures.

Revellers strutted their stuff in Birmingham last night, taking advantage of the warm weather to show off raunchy outfits as they flocked to mostly packed out pubs and clubs.

However, one young lad took things too far and ended up in the back of a police car after repeatedly swearing at British Transport Police.

Leeds was also filled with cheering partygoers, with many ladies taking to the streets in racy summer wear.

While some made the most of the opportunity to sport their sexiest outfit, one lass was snapped resourcefully holding a drink between her bra.

Others groups of partiers joined in the fun by dressing up as tennis players and golfers with some sporting giant inflatable clubs across the city.

The fun got all too much for one sorry lad though, who was hilarious snapped clutching a drink as he hung stooped over a bus bench.

May is looking like it could be the hottest on record and the Met Office has forecast dry conditions for the start of the month.

Its long range forecast reads: "Settled conditions look likely to continue dominating through mid-May across southern areas, with a lot of dry weather.

"Meanwhile, spells of rain may affect northern areas.

"Towards the end of May it is expected to turn more unsettled, with sunshine and showers, some of these likely heavy and thundery, for many parts of the country.

"Some drier days are still possible, as is usual for late spring.

"Temperatures most likely above normal for all areas, with an increased chance of warm spells."

Bookies have also remained confident that the warm weather will continue, slashing their odds twice this week on 2022 hosting the hottest summer on record.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Brits will soon be basking in record-breaking temperatures, if the latest odds are anything to go by."
