A woman found guilty of sawing off her own left hand in a bizarre insurance scam has been freed from jail after serving part of her 19-month sentence for fraud.
Slovenian woman Julija Adlešič was jailed on September 12 last year, but had already served much of her sentence while awaiting trial.
Julija initially insisted that she had severed her hand in an horrific accident while sawing branches at her home in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.

But in November last year she, along with her partner Sebastien Abramov and his parents, all finally entered guilty pleas as part of a deal with Slovenian prosecutors.
Abramov, seen as the brains behind the scheme, was sentenced to two years and five months behind bars.
Abramov took out disability insurance policies for Julija with five separate companies. She stood to be awarded €1,166,300 (at the time around £900,000 but currently just over £1m) if she had an accident that left her unable to work.
Julija had been deep in debt and was going through personal bankruptcy proceedings at the time of the fraud, the court heard.
Julija used a circular saw to lop off her left hand, deliberately leaving the severed body part behind when she rushed to hospital to rule out any attempts by surgeons to reattach it.

Police raced to the scene of the “accident” and recovered Julija’s missing hand.
Doctors attempted to reattach it, but in recent images from Julija’s Instagram account the 22-year-old is consistently concealing her left hand – suggesting that the reattachment didn’t entirely work out.
Part of the prosecution's evidence was an online search for prosthetic hands that Julija’s 30-year-old boyfriend Abramov made the day before she lost her hand.
Judge Marjeta Dvornik initially sentenced Julija to three years behind bars, saying “we believe the sentences are fair and appropriate, and will serve their purpose,” before the sentence was halved in a second hearing.

Before reaching a plea deal with prosecutors Julija declared her innocence in court, arguing: "No one wants to be crippled.
"My youth has been destroyed. I lost my hand at the age of 20. Only I know how it happened."
Abramov's parents Tinka Huskić Colarič and Gorazd Colarič were also involved in the scam.
Abramov's 59-year-old mother received an 18-month suspended sentence, while his father Gorazd, 66, was given a suspended sentence of one year, with a further three years probation.
