King Charles III's reign may be one of the shortest ever but history 'will be kind' to him as he's already made a 'remarkable' contribution to the world, a royal expert has said.
Royal author Robert Jobson said 'workaholic' Charles has been a 'shadow king' in recent years after taking on more state-related duties in 14-hour work days.
Writing in The Sun, the author highlighted how Charles stepped in for the Queen in her later years and took on most of the heavy lifting for the monarchy at home and abroad, especially after her last long-haul flight in 2011.

Jobson, author of Charles: Our Future King – Thoughts, Hopes And Dreams, said: "History, I believe, will be kind to King Charles III.
"No doubt his reign will be short, maybe one of the shortest ever. As a result, his time on the throne will not be a remarkable one, in historical terms.
"That said, his contribution to the world during his entire lifetime certainly has been remarkable.
"His legacy, whether as Prince or as King, will probably be that of a regal philosopher, a courageous man prepared to take risks – and even be ridiculed – for what he sees as the greater good.

"His unselfish and unflinching advocacy for world peace and global sustainability – so important to him as heir – will continue during his reign.
"King Charles will not shrink from the big issues of the day. A constitutional monarch means a sovereign who reigns but does not rule – but there is nothing to prevent them from leading."
Critics of Charles have accused him of sailing close to the wind when it came to his interventions on major issues.

But the author said he has never intervened in a partisan way and has always acted within his constitutional remit.
And he believes that as King, Charles will be a leader, adding: "Charles will never break constitutional rules but, for him, leadership is pre-eminent. He is not a follower.
"He is a good listener who takes enormous trouble to be on top of global affairs, different cultures and religion.
"But the key to his leadership qualities is summed up by a former senior member of the royal household: 'He knows he has a unique ability as somebody who can convene important people who would not otherwise sit in a room together'."
