The runways at Gatwick and Stansted were "temporarily closed" late last night due to the arrival of heavy snow that has since affected many areas across the UK.
Low-cost airline Ryanair broke the bad news to the poor passengers in a statement as temperatures dipped to a freezing -10C in some areas of the UK.
They said: "Due to ongoing severe snowy weather across the UK, runways at both Stansted and Gatwick have been temporarily closed tonight disrupting all flights scheduled to depart."

The airline continued: "While our teams are working hard to minimise disruptions to customers, Ryanair advises all customers flying from the UK on December 11 and 12 to check the Ryanair website or app for flight status updates before travelling to the airport.
"We sincerely apologise for these weather-related disruptions which are entirely beyond our control."
London Stansted Airport's official Twitter account put out their own update on their struggles as they urged passengers to regularly check their flight status should headway be created in its workers efforts to clear the runway.
The Essex-based airport said: "Due to adverse weather conditions, there may be some disruption to your flight from London Stansted Airport.
"Passengers should check the status of their flight with their airline.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will provide further updates as soon as possible."
While Gatwick has yet to issue their own update, they did respond to a Twitter user saying: "Safety is paramount and Gatwick temporarily closed its runway at 5.55pm due to un-forecast snow.

"The airport’s snow clearing teams were in place and reopened the runway again at 8pm after ensuring that conditions were safe to do so."
In response to the dangerously low temperatures and heavy snowfall, the Met Office has issued several yellow snow and ice warnings.
The weather service said: "An area of rain, sleet and snow will continue to affect southeast England and East Anglia through Sunday evening into early Monday morning before easing."
