Temperatures are expected to plummet, bringing a wave of chilly weather across Britain, as April nears. Forecasters have now warned that snow and frost could be an issue over the next few weeks, with areas in Scotland experiencing the majority of the blizzards.
A senior meteorologist has now warned that frost is likely over the weekend, prompting difficult travel journeys.
Jim Dale, senior meteorologist for the British Weather Services, told Express.co.uk: “Colder it will become but snow showers will be limited to the Highlands, the Grampians, the Southern Uplands & the Cumbrian mountains.
“Frost for Scotland Sunday morning, frost for most of the UK by Monday morning & again Tuesday. All transient.”
Looking ahead to the start of April, weather maps predict an onslaught of blizzards and freezing weather.

Areas near Inverness could see up to 27cm of snowfall as temperatures plummet during the first days of April.
Whereas central Scotland is set to see around 14cm during the same time period.
While other parts of the UK is set to experience a soggier start to April, snowfall is likely to be limited to Scotland and high altitudes.
However, frost has been predicted to cause nationwide chaos as temperatures plunge to freezing once again.
The following weeks are expected to be plagued with “persistent rain” and “wintry showers”, the Met Office has said.

In the Met Office’s forecast for the first week of April, it expects coastal showers, wintry in places, across the northeast accompanied by strong winds.
Temperatures have been forecast to linger below average for the time of the year, however, when sunny it is expected to feel pleasant and mild.
Met Office forecasters continued: “Moving through the period, some spells of rain are likely to push across most areas, with the southeast seeing the driest conditions towards the end of the month.
“Into early April, likely remaining changeable but perhaps more in the way of drier interludes, especially across the south.
“Some strong winds are likely, with a low risk of gales, mainly for western areas.”
