Shock moment cop clings to speeding car for 12 MILES as it weaves through traffic after driver tries to flee drug test | The Sun

A BRAVE traffic cop was captured hanging on for dear life to the bonnet of a speeding car as the stoned driver tried to runaway from a drug test.

The incredible footage shows the determined officer completely spread across the vehicle’s windscreen for over 12 miles as the driver weaves in and out of traffic on Sunday in India.



It's not clear how or when the 22-year-old driver surrendered but by the end of the video it is clear the cop was victorious in his pursuit.

The male suspect is seen in police custody by the side of the motorway, following an arrest – he now being charged with attempted murder as well as drug use while driving.

The incident started when two officers tried to stop the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence on April 16, according to a local police.

Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly attempted to ram his car straight into both the policemen. In response, one had to leap onto the bonnet to narrowly avoid injury.

The officer was then taken on a death ride by the suspected drug-driver for around 12.4 miles in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra State, India.

During the pursuit, the driver ran through several traffic signals, uncontrollably swerving in and out of traffic, while he had very little view out of his windscreen.

Police said that the suspect drove at high speeds and the officer was later thrown from the vehicle.

Luckily, traffic cop Siddheshwar Mali, 37, only suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The officer's colleagues had sped after the suspect trying to catch up with their friend who was now attached to a car and fighting for his life.

They managed to detain the suspect on the motorway after setting up a roadblock.

The dangerous driver tested positive for cannabis use.

Police spokesperson Shashikant Chandekar stated: “He had consumed ganja.”

The suspect was placed under arrest and now faces charges of attempted murder, along with other offences under India's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
