The wife of a Russian soldier has been left raging after authorities sent her circus tickets instead of essentials like firewood, as promised.
The middle-aged woman called Irina Nikiforiak, from the Russian republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, located in the North Caucasus, took to social media to vent her frustration.
She claimed the local authorities in her district promised to provide her with firewood for heating after her husband was conscripted into the Russian military.

"My husband was voluntarily mobilised on January 24, 2023,” she says in her video.
“The local authorities of Urupsky District promised me help. (They promised) to bring me firewood. Instead, they've brought me two tickets to circus.
"Serhiy Volodymyrovych Kornev, the head of the village municipality, was constantly lying. He said: ‘I'll bring it, I'll bring it, I'll bring it.’ But in the end, he brought two tickets to the circus.”
In response, Kornev told her that she was “put on the list”, but that firewood "most likely won’t be," according to reports in Eastern Europe.
The head of the Regional Executive Committee, Liudmila Kapuseva, later reportedly announced that the family’s problem “has been taken over by the government and will be solved”.

In November 2022, Governor Ralid Temrezov declared that “caring for our residents, whose fathers, husbands and children are on the front line, is a priority for the regional authorities”.
In February, families of Russian soldiers killed in action during the Ukraine war were reportedly gifted shaving foam and shampoo kits.
And in December last year, Russian newspaper Vesma reported that one of the district leaders of the Kursk region, Sergey Korostelev, gave a set of towels to mothers who lost their sons in the conflict.
Some of the mothers were even given a cake and also the honorary title 'Mothers of the Defenders of the Homeland.'
