Meghan Markle popularity ‘plummets’ as socialite says people can’t ‘take chance’

Meghan Markle's popularity in the US is "plummeting" owing to her controversial ways, according to a top socialite and Rockefeller fortune heiress.

Kayla Rockefeller, 23, said she would not want Meghan to wear or model her jewellery designs as she "couldn't take that chance" on a figure who brings such controversy.

Kayla, who is part of a dynasty known as one of 'America's Royal families', told the Mail: "That would be controversial. As a new jeweller I couldn't take the chance. I mean, I could but people are so 50/50 [about Meghan]."

The Mirror reported that Rockefeller warned Meghan and hubby Prince Harry risk becoming excluded from elite circles in the States if they continue with the way they are going.

Her comments come just weeks after a poll revealed Meghan and Harry's popularity stateside was at its nadir, beneath the likes of scandal-ridden Prince Andrew.

The poll followed Prince Harry's memoir Spare in which he laid bare his feelings about the Royal Family. The Duke's subsequent TV interviews saw him double down on criticism of his family.

Despite this, Harry, 38, decided he would attend his dad's Coronation – while his wife and two children will remain in the United States.

And despite reports of waning popularity, cheers rippled though the crowd as the two flashed up on the big screen inside of the Crypto.com Arena during a basketball game.

The pair were seen smiling and laughing on the jumbotron at the Los Angeles arena, appearing on the Kiss Cam while attending a match between the LA Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies.

The jovial demeanour of the two also appears to rubbish reports that the Prince is finding life in California tough and feeling "homesick".

But one insider said Harry both enjoys the Golden State and "misses home".

"Harry has definitely found his vibe and is very settled in California. But he does miss home," makeup artist Daniel Martin said, People reports.
