Elon Musk’s Neuralink mocked as people think CEO will watch ‘brains explode’

A recent approval for Elon Musk's brain chips company Neuralink to begin human testing has seen a rise in mockery for the Twitter CEO.

Taking to his very platform to air their concerns through memes and gags, social media users were less-than convinced by the SpaceX and Tesla boss chipping them.

Neuralink, which was founded by Musk in 2016, has since been approved for future human testing with chips hoping to restore vision and mobility through a series of computer networks.

Despite Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval, members of the public seem unconvinced by the upcoming brain chip offers, remaining suspicious of the tech improvement.

One user joked of Elon Musk watching Twitter users take the chip only for their "entire brain" to "explode" after posting "a single negative tweet about him".

Another user slapped up an image of Peter Griffin from Family Guy and described the chips as "man-made horrors beyond my comprehension".

A statement from Neuralink confirming the trial approval and potential applications for the chip read: "We are excited to share that we have received the FDA’s approval to launch our first-in-human clinical study!

"Recruitment is not yet open for our clinical trial. We’ll announce more information on this soon!"

Musk had already made it clear he hoped to see the first brain chips in humans in 2023, and so far his Neuralink boffins are set to match such a lofty ambition.

Neuralink's approval to move into human testing comes just months after the company faced allegations of animal abuse, with EveningStandard reporting the company was "killing 1,500 animals in testing".

The US Department of Agriculture confirmed investigations were underway following on from complaints about the chip and deaths within the testing process.

Regardless of investigation, the company hopes to continue its testing process, planting chips the size of a coin into the brain in the hopes of aiding speech disabilities and blindness.
