North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un fires deadly missile towards Japan, warns South Korea

Kim Jong-un is believed launched a ballistic missile in the direction of the Sea of Japan, according to South Korea.

The apparent test comes days after a similar launch, during which North Korea is believed to have fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

The long-range missile flew for more than an hour, landing short of Japanese waters last Wednesday morning.

The incident comes at a time of high tensions as the pace of both the North’s weapons demonstrations and US-South Korean joint military training have intensified in a cycle of tit-for-tat.

In addition, the US-led United Nations Command is currently trying to secure the release of an American soldier who fled to North Korea from the South Korean side of a border village.

Private 2nd Class Travis King, in his early 20s, had just been released from a South Korean prison where he was held on assault charges. Instead of getting on a plane to be taken back to Fort Bliss, Texas, he left and joined a tour of the Korean border village of Panmunjom, where he ran across the border.
