HKEX Recruits Anthony Crampton as Its New Managing Director

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced that it has recruited Anthony Crampton as its new Managing Director, Head Of Management Reporting And Facilities Management, effective from 1st November 2021.

Finance Magnates recently learned from a press release that Anthony Crampton, a Chartered Accountant and a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst with a track record of success in world-class organisations, has been named by HKEX, Asia’s largest stock market operator by market cap, as its new Managing Director and Head Of Management Reporting And Facilities Management.

Crampton will report to Group Chief Financial Officer, Vanessa Lau. He will work across the exchange in order to oversee the group’s management reporting best-practice and assist the business to make better-informed decisions. Additionally, he will supervise the group’s Facilities Management activities to ensure functionality, comfort, safety and efficiency of its offices and facilities. This will occur through aligning its staff, processes and technology within its real-estate portfolio.

The HKEX Group Chief Financial Officer, Vanessa Lau said: “I am very pleased to be welcoming Anthony to HKEX. He has more than 25 years of experience in finance and accounting, where he has held a number of senior finance and audit positions in London, Hong Kong and Sydney. His expertise will be invaluable to us as we further strengthen our capabilities as the global markets leader in the Asian time zone.”

Turning Back the Clock on Crampton’s Past

Prior to the role at HKEX, Crampton has been serving the Hong Kong Jockey Club for the last six and a half years. Most recently, he fulfilled the appointment of Director of Corporate Finance where he was responsible for Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Accounting and Taxation, Treasury, Corporate Controllership, Finance Shared Services and Risk Management. Before that, he was the Head of Audit for more than four years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Additionally, KPMG China benefitted from Crampton’s experience as a Director. From July 2012, he took on the responsibilities for Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance for KPMG Hong Kong and specialised in board advisory, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, internal audit effectiveness and assurance.

Earlier at Bunzl Plc, he became the Head of Internal Audit. For almost four years, he was in charge of a global remit that covered risk and governance, audit, policy setting, operational improvement, pre-acquisition due diligence, business integration and best practice sharing.

Previously, he was hired by KPMG as an External Auditor for more than twelve years. Commuting between Sydney and London, he provided assurance and advisory services to a broad range of clients from wine manufacturers, defence contractors, engineering and construction firms, fast-moving consumer goods and consumer leasing companies.
