Multi-industry consulting firm Treliant has brought Michael Saxon onboard as its new senior director. Saxon will work to grow the company’s blockchain and cryptocurrency advisory services for the company’s expanding list of clients.
Saxon Is the Man for the Job
Saxon has worked as a consultant for the past several years in the blockchain space. Not only has he advised many up-and-coming firms, but he has also led several new projects that have pushed the digital currency space farther than anyone could have anticipated.
Treliant managing partner Ross Marrazzo explained in an interview:
Business models built on blockchain [technology] and virtual currencies are proliferating in both mainstream financial services companies and disruptive FinTech startups—introducing unprecedented risk as well as opportunity. Michael understands this emerging market like few others and can help clients control critical issues in operations and strategy, compliance, and financial crimes mitigation.
Expressing his excitement over the new position, Saxon stated:
I’ve long been dedicated to helping founders and executives systematically build and grow their businesses by staying at the leading edge of new technologies. The key is to embed innovations like cryptocurrency in proven leadership and business methodologies.
In the past, Saxon has focused on operations and compliance systems. This is the process of working to ensure all trading platforms and related blockchain companies comply with present government systems and regulations so that no illicit behavior takes place, and all traders and customers are protected from malicious actors. Over the course of his career, he has implemented several anti-money laundering protocols for exchanges and other crypto enterprises.
He has also held several different positions in the digital currency space including project manager and primary author with numerous (separate) cryptocurrency startups. He was also an interim BSA compliance officer for a crypto on-ramp technology provider. He was also the team leader for an unnamed exchange’s attempts to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
From Military Life to Crypto…
Prior to his time in the crypto space, Saxon served many years as an army officer and combat veteran. Now retired from military life, Saxon was on the faculty of the United States Military Academy at West Point for more than a decade. He was also in charge of the institution’s ethics education program. He holds a bachelor’s degree from West Point and boasts an MA and a PhD from Indiana University. Other educational accomplishments include certifications in both organizational strategy and interorganizational planning.
Treliant consults with firms across the globe. While the company works primarily with financial institutions, the enterprise also focuses on consumer-oriented businesses and corporations. It also devotes time to working with law firms. Treliant boasts a large staff of former government officials and industry professionals, and the firm ensures that all companies it works with are fully aware of newfound regulatory compliance and best practices.
