Speaking to Politics Live on Monday Mr Madeley launched into a furious tirade as he questioned how it has been allowed that a serving MP has endured such horrific social media abuse that she feels she cannot attend her own party’s conference.
Mr Madeley told the show: “I honestly think that what has happened here is an absolute disgrace.
“And I think the fact that this woman can’t go to her party conference because of the threats and abuse she is getting online absolutely unacceptable.”
He added: “I don’t see why we have to put up with it.”
The presenter revealed how through research for a new novel he is writing, he has read up on the issue of social media trolls and the efforts that can be used to identify them.

He explained how easy it is for the police to track such trolls through their IP address and find out the identities of the culprits.
Mr Madeley stressed that if trolls have issued threats or have abused somebody in any way, the police can go after them under criminal law.
He also called on the police to track down those responsible for the abuse and bring them to justice.
He slammed: “That woman should be at her party conference.
Rosie Duffield admits Labour 'looks ridiculous and ineffective'
“It is disgusting that she feels she has to basically stay behind the curtains at home.
“I find it extraordinary that in this day and age we have been reduced to this.”
The comments come as Ms Duffield has been accused by Trans acitivists of being “transphobic” following comments surrounding who should be able to identify as a woman.
She has also come under fire for endorsing controversial tweets on the issue.

Ms Duffield believes that biological females should be granted protected spaces where biological males are not allowed to go to, including domestic violence refuges and prisons.
The MP has also said she is against people being able to self-identify as trans to gain access to those spaces.
Ms Duffield insists she is “completely supportive of trans rights” but she has been slammed by some LGBT+ groups for her beliefs – some group’s argue trans men and women should be treated the same as biological men and women.
It comes as Ms Duffield is now demanding a meeting with Labour leader Keir Starmer to clairfy the party’s position on Trans-rights.
