And the ongoing invasion in Ukraine has forced Brexit plans to be put on hold, with Mr Johnson calling on the EU to present a united front when it comes to the NI Protocol.
The PM said he hoped “the same spirit of cooperation that had characterised the UK/EU relationship in respect of Ukraine” would be used in negotiations going forward.
