Speaking to LBC’s Nick Ferrari from the Conservative Party conference in Manchester, the Prime Minister said the protest action by the climate change group is “insane” and damaging the economy.
Mr Ferrari slammed: “Come on Boris Johnson, you have got to sort this out!”
The Prime Minister hammered: “There are some people who call those individuals legitimate protesters! They’re not!
“I think they are irresponsible crusties who are basically trying to stop people going about their day’s work.
“And doing considerable damage to the economy!”
Mr Johnson added: “And that is why we have taken the powers and why Priti Patel is doing the right thing so they can get six months or an unlimited fine.
“Or actually we have got section 60 powers to search the whole area!”
Insulate Britain launched their eleventh day of protests on Monday blocking major access points into the capital at Arnos Grove, Blackwall Tunnel, Hangar Lane, and Wandsworth Bridge sparking traffic mayhem.
But the protests triggered a ferocious response from drivers who got out of their vehicles and dragged protesters off the road in fury.
