Minister backs Lee Anderson's 'righteous indignation' over illegal migrants
Tory Deputy Chairman Lee Anderson has mocked Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour front bench over their silence on his demands illegal migrants who refuse to be housed in a barge are sent back to France.
The Ashfield MP has provoked a Twitter storm of outraged leftwingers including former shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott over his comment: “If they don’t like barges then they should f*** off back to France.”
But while leftwing campaigners have raged on social media demanding he is sacked by Rishi Sunak or an immediate general election is called, Starmer and his shadow ministers have remained quiet on the issue.
Mr Anderson believes it is because the Labour leader and his top team do not want to admit what their policy is on illegal immigration and that it would lead to open borders.
Today he called Express.co.uk to challenge the Labour front bench to come out of the shadows.

Mr Anderson said: “Since my comments to the Express my inbox has been inundated with support from people all over the UK.
“The left wing mainstream media has gone into meltdown over my comments but, interestingly, I am yet to see one Labour front bench MP disagree with my comments.
“Is this another U-turn from Labour because their silence is deafening.”
He added: “Only Diane Abbott has said anything and she’s not exactly Starmer’s cup of tea at the moment.”
A spokeswoman for the Labour Party would not comment on why there had been silence over Mr Anderson’s comments.

But she pointed to comments made by shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper about the “chaos” surrounding housing migrants in the Bibby Stockholm barge moored off Portland, near Bournemouth.
The row broke out after Mr Anderson reacted to Express.co.uk over the leftwing activist Care4Calais group’s attenpts to stop migrants being housed on the barge while their asylum applications were being processed.
Care4Calais has Labour connections with party activists also helping out the charity which opposes many of the attempts to stop the small boats coming across the English Cahannel from France.
Mr Anderson is a also GB News host and will be appearing on Nigel Farage’s show to elaborate on his views on the controversy tonight.
