The Prime Minister spoke after trading insults with European Union leaders over the implementation of the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement at the G7 summit in Cornwall. Attending his first full Nato summit in Brussels, Mr Johnson insisted the UK’s military allies would be understanding of his attempts to protect the integrity of the UK. He said: “I think most people around the table understand the vital importance of a country looking after its territorial integrity.

“That’s one of the things, by the way, that Nato is out there to do.”
