The YouGov poll of 6,546 UK adults on Wednesday indicated 53 percent feel Brexit is going either “fairly badly” or “very badly”. Only 18 percent believed the UK’s departure from the European Union is going “fairly well” or “very well”. Several people reacted furiously to the research and referring to the result of the 2016 referendum, Kate Wilton wrote on Twitter: “Amused that 53 percent is around half, whereas 52 percent was an overwhelming mandate.”

A Twitter user known only as “Mark” said: “The problem is it’s not going badly enough yet for Labour to be against it for fear of a right wing press backlash.”

Sharon Hawthorne posted: “Who the heck are the 18 percent who think it’s going well – what planet are they on?”

Leroy added: “Remove ‘don’t know’ and it’s 74 percent. Almost three quarters of Britons polled think Brexit is going badly.

“Not oven ready, not easy. This is all on the Government.”

But Britons have launched a furious backlash towards the comments from Remainers, who continue to vent their anger towards the UK’s departure from the EU.

Commenting on our initial story, one Express.co.uk reader wrote: “Remainiacs don’t understand the economic liabilities being on the EU.”

SanjayP commented: “Rejoiner nightmare is that no one listens to them and their window of opportunity to deride Brexit fades.”

McRobbie said: “Leaving is going very well.

“The EU is moaning as we expected and are suffering just the same as the UK.

“Energy prices are rising over there, lorry drivers are as in demand over there as here, but we have a successful vaccine programme well in advance of the eurocracy.

“But it’s raining today and that’s all the fault of Brexit in Remoaners’ minds.”

Pino72u added: “We are out, get used to it and stop blaming every hiccup on Brexit. May I add I voted Remain.”

Nick Robinson questions Starmer over his former Brexit stance

At the start of his speech at the Labour Party conference on Wednesday, Sir Keir listed off critics of Labour which included those who defected to the Conservatives, insisting he would go into the next election – scheduled for 2023 – with a serious plan for Government.

But one heckler in the audience in Brighton shouted the Labour leader’s Brexit policy was the reason voters have left.

However, BBC Newsnight’s Policy Editor Lewis Goodall tweeted: “Starmer heckled from the floor about reason for general election defeat: ‘It was your Brexit policy!'”

The current Labour leader served as Shadow Brexit Secretary for a large duration of Mr Corbyn’s tenure, and was responsible for the party’s policy of pledging to hold a second referendum.

Following his appointment as leader in April 2020, Sir Keir remained largely quiet for several months after on Brexit as the UK neared its departure from the EU.

But he has since admitted any hopes of reversing the result or holding a second referendum on the matter have now ended.
