Taking place virtually due to the pandemic, SNP delegates backed trialling a four day week by 509 votes to just 16.
Supporters speaking in favour of the policy said it would make the case for splitting from the UK “loud and clear” and was part of a “winning combination for independence”.
Establishing a fund to allow businesses to pilot the radical policy was a key pledge from the SNP at the Scottish elections in May.
In today’s motion, delegates “applauded” the party for the proposals saying: “We want to do more to support people achieve a healthy work-life balance.”
