The latest YouGov poll of Conservative members has revealed Ms Truss continues to lead the way over rival Mr Sunak. Ms Truss’s lead has stretched to 34 points, with 60 percent of party members now saying they will vote for her to become the next Prime Minister and Tory leader.
This is compared to just 26 percent for the former Chancellor, who has failed to make inroads with voters after his resignation sparked the toppling of Boris Johnson.
Ms Truss is now ahead of Mr Sunak among all age groups, across different parts of the country and with men and women, the poll shows.
The survey, which was conducted over the last five days, also found nine out of ten members eligible for voting had already made up their minds about whom they will cast their ballot for.
Despite the overwhelming support for the Foreign Secretary, voters are not convinced that either candidate would win at the next general election.
Just 19 percent of members believed Mr Sunak could lead the Tories to their fourth general election win in 15 years, with hope 20 points higher for Ms Truss at 39 percent.
