A friend of Meghan Markle has been slammed by royal fans after he called her "princess" in a happy birthday post.
The Duchess of Sussex celebrated turning 41 last Thursday (August 4).
To mark the occasion her actor pal Tyler Perry, 52, took to both Twitter and Instagram to post an image of her from her South Africa tour in 2019, where she can be seen kneeling down to kiss a young girl on the hand.

Alongside the snap, he wrote: "I’ve had a front row seat in your life for the past few years. I’ve watched you endure things that would have broken a lot of people.
"I'm so incredibly proud to see how happy you, your husband, and your kids are now. It fills me with joy to say Happy Birthday Princess Meghan."
Some hit back at his choice of words, pointing out that Meghan’s title was Duchess, reports Hull Live.
One said: "So very disappointed to read your thoughts on this subject Tyler. And she is not that title that you bestowed upon her."
Another wrote: “Not Princess Meghan no matter how hard you try.”
A third wrote: "She's not a princess. Please understand your Royal titles."
Responding to the criticisms, another person said: "We don't care about your rules here. We will call her Princess Meghan just like the only Queens we reference are Queen Serena and Queens Aretha and Beyoncé."
Many others also commented in support of the post, wishing "Princess Meghan" a happy birthday.
One said: "Beauty, class and kindness. I adore this true Princess of the world!!!"
