Police rushed to Adams High School in South Bend shortly after 8am on Tuesday.
According to the South Bend Tribune, police said a male student was stabbed in his lower back or ribs in a second-floor bathroom.
"One student was wounded and was taken to the hospital. That student is in stable condition at this time," the South Bend Police Department tweeted.
The student reportedly told police "five males attacked him," the outlet reported.
South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski said several juveniles were in custody related to the incident.
"Our school resource officer, who was here, called for assistance from our patrol and detective divisions for a stabbing or cutting incident inside the school," Ruszkowski said at a briefing outside the school.
"We do have several parties who are in custody and are being interviewed at this time."
