Influencer Andrew Tate’s appeal against a 30-day extension to his detention in Romania has been denied. The social media personality, known for peddling misogynistic views, often to young boys, was appealing in Bucharest against a judge’s decision on February 21 to keep him in Romania for a further 30 days.
The social media influencer will now remain in prison for at least another month.
Andrew and his brother Tristan Tate were taken into custody on December 29 last year.
They were initially detained for 24 hours, which was then extended to 30 days.
A further 30 days were added in January, and again last month.
Tristan’s bail appeal hearing is tomorrow.
Romanian authorities have said they had seized goods and money worth almost £3.25m from Tate’s villa, including luxury cars.
Tate’s spokesperson said afterward that the social media influencer would be “appealing the decision”
They said: “We are disappointed in this outcome as we had high hopes to see Andrew reunited with his family. His legal team will be appealing this decision within the 48hr time frame.”
The 36-year-old British-US citizen has 4.4 million followers on Twitter and a huge following on other platforms.
He has since been banned from various channels for expressing misogynistic views and hate speech.
The former Big Brother contestant and kickboxer is believed to have lived in Romania since 2017.
He was recently involved in a spat with climate change activist Greta Thunberg, who is 17 years his junior and still a teenager.
