Armed police swarm London flat with officers crouched behind walls

Police rushed to surround a London building amid dramatic scenes.

Metropolitan Police officers were stood outside Selbourne House just south of the River Thames at around 9pm on Saturday evening.

Video from the scene shows them crouched behind a wall.

The police said they "coordinated a multi-agency response" after a suspect made "threats to officers".

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "On Sat 2 Jan at 1412 hrs police attended a call to a disturbance at Great Dover Street, SE1.

"Due to threats made to officers, a multi-agency response was coordinated.

"At this time there is no known threat to public. Local auth and ward officers are in attendance to assist."
