‘It cuts like a knife’: Attorney for family of LSU student Madison Brooks slam release of ‘hurtful and shameful’ video showing her in back of a car where four men ‘raped her’ before she was run over
- Kerry Miller, a lawyer for Madison Brook’s mother, blasted the new video of the LSU student slurring her speech surrounded by her accused rapists
- He said the video, released by lawyers for the four suspects, was ‘hurtful and shameful,’ adding further damage to the dead 19-year-old’s family
- Brooks died on January 15 after the men allegedly raped her, tossed her out of her car and then was hit by a ride-sharing vehicle
The attorney representing the family of Louisiana State University sophomore Madison Brooks condemned a new video of the dead student in the back of a car with her alleged rapists.
The video shows the Alpha Phi sorority girl slurring her words and arguing with the four accused rapists at 3am in East Baton Rouge last month moments before she was allegedly raped, tossed to the side of the road and later run over by another car.
The 29-second clip, released by the suspects’ lawyers, includes a brief moment where Brooks, 19, hurled insults at the men and called the driver ‘gay.’
Kerry Miller, who is representing Brooks’ mother, told Fox News the video was ‘hurtful and shameful,’ adding that every clip released by the defense ‘cuts like a knife’ into the late student’s family.

Last month, another video was released to the media showing Brooks running out of Reggie’s bar in Baton Rouge to join the four suspects accused of raping her: Kaivon Washington, 18; Casen Carver, 18, Everett Lee, 28; and Desmond Carter, 17.
Miller called out the defense for continuing to release videos of the night of Brooks’ death to the media, describing it as a desperate bid to control the narrative.
‘It’s one thing to defend your clients. It’s another to try the case in the media,’ Miller said. ‘It shows a level of desperation.’

In the segment of the new video aired on TV earlier this week, Brooks is seen sitting in the back of the car surrounded by the men as she argued with them and appeared to be leaving the vehicle.
‘I’m sorry that I offended you that bad,’ she told the driver, Carver.
She then yells in a slurred fashion: ‘Get out. Get out. I’ll call an Uber on my own.’
Defense attorney Ron Haley claims the full 29-second clip includes the moment Brooks called Carver ‘gay’ for allegedly not wanting to get intimate with her.
‘Implying that he’s not straight based on him not wanting to engage in certain activities with her,’ Haley explained to WBRZ 2, which aired the clip.
‘It doesn’t put anyone in the best light, but again, not being put in the best light isn’t the same thing as rape.’
Haley argues that the video shows that, while Brooks was drunk, she could consent.
Neither Miller nor Haley immediately responded to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

Other footage released by lawyers for the defense shows the moment Brooks ran after the group of men on the night she died
Brooks died after being hit by a ride-share car at 3am on January 15, when she was dropped off by the four men.
Two Good Samaritans reportedly stopped to perform CPR on the sophomore LSU student after the collision.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office says they were guided by first responders on the phone in the pouring rain after Brooks was hit by the car.
They confirmed that she died from ‘multiple traumatic injuries’ when she was hit by a car after allegedly being raped.
Carter, whose identity was previously withheld because he’s a minor, was indicted on first-degree rape charges, facing life in prison without parole.
He was also charged with third-degree rape, which in Louisiana involves sex that is deemed to be without lawful consent of the victim.
Washington, Carver and Lee are also facing third-degree rape charges.

Legal documents seen by DailyMail.com reveal that Madi had 0.319g per cent of alcohol in her system – so high that toxicologists said she could have suffered from alcohol poisoning or loss of consciousness.
Surveillance footage surrounding Reggie’s bar, where the group met, shows Madi drunk and stumbling around, according to police documents.
The Louisiana ATC has confirmed that they have suspended the license of Reggie’s following the ‘seriousness of the allegations and potential threat to public safety’.
An attorney for the bar, Kris Perrett, confirmed in a statement that they are ‘fully cooperating with authorities’.
