Brazen ‘shoplifter’ stuffs bags with items as security guard watches on

A security guard was spotted confronting a potential thief before letting him walk out of a store.

The incident took place at Walgreens pharmacy store in San Francisco, US, where a man was caught apparently trying to nick bottles of products and shoving them into plastic bags.

In a video posted on Twitter by Darren Stallcup on Saturday, the alleged shoplifter is confronted by a security guard inside the store.

The guard checks his shopping bags and removes several bottles of shower gel before the man flees the scene.

While the guard tries to pick up some of the bottles on the floor, the man heads towards the exit and says: "F*** it."

He then swings a kick to a shelf, breaking the trays where the travel products are placed.

The man leaves the store as an announcement goes: "Customer service needed."

Darren wrote in his post: "Can't even go to the Walgreens."

In October, Walgreens shut down five of its stores in San Francisco because of financial losses due to constant shoplifting.

"Organised retail crime continues to be a challenge facing retailers across San Francisco, and we are not immune to that," Walgreens spokesperson Phil Caruso said, reported Daily Mail.

"Retail theft across our San Francisco stores has continued to increase in the past few months to five times our chain average."

The company said cases of shoplifting have jumped during the pandemic as store staff and security guards choose not to pursue the thieves.
