A MAN has been arrested over an alleged sex attack on a 14-year-old British girl at a hotel in Spain.
The suspect has been described locally as a British man who was staying at the same unnamed hotel in the lively Spanish coastal resort of Calella near Barcelona.
The teenager is understood to have been on holiday with her parents and other relatives.
Three British men were in the room when the alleged sex attack took place according to Catalan radio station Catalunya Informacio which said only one was arrested.
The arrest over the Thursday night incident is understood to have taken place in the early hours of Friday morning.
The British youngster was taken to Sant Jaume Hospital in Calella for a medical examination after police were called.

Some Spanish newspapers are describing the sex attack as rape although this has not yet been confirmed by police.
Pictures have also been published showing officers taking away a man wearing a baseball cap and yellow coat which are being linked to the alleged sex attack arrest.
The suspect, whose name and age have not been made public, is now in jail pending an ongoing criminal probe after being remanded in custody by an investigating judge in Arenys de Mar near Calella.
Calella is known as the tourist capital of the Costa del Maresme.

It lies between Barcelona 30 miles south and Girona the same distance north.
The Costa del Maresme is bordered to the north by the more internationally-known Costa Brava.
The Mossos d’Esquadra, the regional police force which made the arrest, could not be reached early this morning for an official comment.
A court official confirmed: "A judge at Court of First Instance Number 7 in Arenys de Mar, acting as a duty court, has agreed to remand a man arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a minor in Calella."
The Sun Online has approached the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for comment.
