Charles mocked for ‘reading off cue cards’ to say two words during Coronation

King Charles III's has found his Coronation undermined by some mocking comments about his need to read from a cue card to say just two words.

The King of England's declaration was declared an "ick" by one Twitter user who found Charles' reliance on the cue cards featured in his Coronation an embarrassing moment for the Monarch.

One user even suggested the day so far had been "a bit raggedy" as dozens of comments poured in regarding the king's reliance on notes written down on cue cards.

The king read off "I will" after squinting at a card held for him by one of many moving parts in a massive Coronation process.

One user was worried the Coronation gaffe revealed the future for the family, writing: "Only King Charles could wait all these years to become King and still have to read off a f***ing cue card, oh the future is bright."

Another Coronation viewer said they were there just for "the music", which they praised as "spot-on" so far, in stark contrast to the cue card sighting.

They wrote: "Is it me, or does the Coronation look a bit raggedy?

"The walking and riding in formation not looking tidy, the state coach having to reverse after overshooting the entrance, the King reading his vows from cue cards. I'm mainly here for the music, which is spot-on."

Others lobbed criticism at the king, who one user alleged "couldn't be bothered" to learn his lines.

They wrote: "He's becoming king of one of the longest standing institutions in the world and he couldn't even be bothered to memorize his lines."

But another user chimed in to defend the recently-crowned king, writing: "There is a lot to remember, esp at his age. There were cue cards at his mother's coronation, too. I distinctly recall seeing in the old reels, the peers reading their homage to Her Majesty off of cards."
