‘Cocky’ Prince Andrew would struggle to be ‘likeable’ to American jury – expert

An American jury may have been difficult for Prince Andrew due to him struggling with “likability”, according to a royal expert.

The Duke of York was due to face a civil trial in the US over allegations of sexual assault made by Ms Giuffre, which he has fervently denied.

However Tuesday's news that he has reached a "settlement in principle" with Ms Giuffre has spared him from going through the American justice system, with an expert believing Andrew would have found it difficult.

Kinsey Schofield, founder of ToDiForDaily.com, believes a high level of unflattering detail about Andrew would have come out of the trial and says the Duke already comes across as “cocky” to Americans.

She told the Daily Star: “A trial would reveal travel details, diary entries, letters, texts, and photos and would have really painted a picture of how close Andrew was to Jeffrey Epstein. A known predator.

“On top of all of this, Prince Andrew comes off as cocky [and] arrogant… about this subject so he would have struggled with likability to an American jury.

“Americans don’t really care for Prince Andrew. He is not the young, charming Prince that he once was.

"Americans' interest in the monarchy has really shifted to Prince William and Catherine, with great respect for the Queen.”

Today, court documents revealed that Andrew and Ms Giuffre have reached a settlement in principle in the civil sex claim filed in the US.

Court documents revealed that the Duke will make a “substantial donation to a charity in support of victims’ rights”.

The amount Andrew will pay Ms Giuffre will remain undisclosed.

An attachment to the letter announcing the settlement read: “Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms. Giuffre’s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.
