Dad of man 'turned gay by painkillers' claims his son has always fancied men

THE dad of a man who claims painkillers made him gay says his son has always been attracted to men.

Nigel Purdy is adamant his 23-year-old son had sex with a man before taking pregabalin for nerve pain.

He told the MailOnline his estranged son, Scott, is "living a lie".

He said he had always assumed Scott was bisexual, and knew he had experimented with same sex relationships when he was a teen.

But Scott claims he dumped his girlfriend and is now gay after taking the drugs to ease the pain of a broken foot.

He says within a few weeks he stopped fancying women and started feeling attracted to men.

He said: "I noticed my libido for women had gone and I was wanting male attention.

"I was with a girlfriend, I had been with her around six months.

"I had never been interested in men.

"When I was younger, I was a little bit curious, but a couple of weeks after taking it I turned around and realised I didn't find her physically attractive anymore."

However his 57-year-old dad begs to differ, he told the Mail: "I know my son and we have always just assumed he was bisexual, as it turns out he is gay. It's just the way he was, even when he was younger.

"It was his general mannerisms. A parent knows their child. I don't know why he has waited to come out with all this. His whole life has been a lie."

His wife, Gail, said the family had asked Scott for years if he was attracted to men, and agreed the painkillers had not altered his sexuality.

Nigel added he has also been prescribed the same drugs following cancer treatment, and has not noticed any change in how he feels about men.

During an interview on This Morning this week, Scott was asked if he had ever experimented with his sexuality when he was younger.

He said "when I was 16 or 17, I was a little curious and I was kissing him and that," but added that he had only dated women after that.
