Denver will remain hot and sunny for a few more days before a chance of showers comes in on Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder, Denver will reach 93 degrees under the sun on Tuesday. The average high temperature for Aug. 24 is 86 degrees. The record for this day is 98 degrees, which was set last year. The sky will stay clear into the evening when temperatures drop to 60 degrees.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has issued an Ozone Action Alert for Tuesday. The highest quantities of ozone will be in the metro area Tuesday afternoon into the evening. Most of the wildfire smoke has cleared out, but it could increase again later this week.
Tuesday will be abnormally dry, bringing elevated fire danger across North and Middle Park in the afternoon. Winds could gust near 25 mph. But there will be no threat of flash floods.
Critical fire weather conditions are possible Wednesday. Denver will be sunny with a high of 92 degrees, according to the NWS. There’s a 10% chance of precipitation after 7 p.m. with 24 mph wind gusts.
Moisture will increase Thursday behind a weak front, bringing a 40% of storms after 1 p.m. It will be partly cloudy with a high of 88 degrees downtown. Winds could gust over 20 mph, as the chance for storms remains until around midnight. The low will dip to 59 degrees.
