The Met Office has revealed the exact day Britons can expect downpours to disrupt their Easter weekend plans. Weather forecasts show the country getting gradually wetter despite a pleasant start to April, with once-sunny skies becoming overcast and temperatures dropping. By Monday, these inclement conditions will come to a head, with the Met Office predicting rain and strong gale-force winds battering those living on the coast.
The agency’s long-range forecast, which covers April 10 to 19, warns that, while Monday will start well, the weather will quickly change.
Eastern and southern parts of the UK will see the nicest weather on Monday, April 10, with most areas dry at first.
But with the rainy system arriving from the west coast, northern and western areas will have a “damp start”.
As the day moves on, that rainy system will track across the country, resulting in “sunny spells and showers”.
The Met Office said most areas would see “breezy” conditions, aside from the north, where there is a “risk of coastal gales”.
Unsettled weather in the northwest could kick up “strong winds” and rain in the northwest.
It added that the heavy winds would likely continue “through the middle of next week”.
Until Wednesday, April 19, a north-south split will see the more unsettled weather stick to the north while the south remains primarily dry.
But conditions for the month will likely remain highly changeable, forecasters believe.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Jim Dale from British Weather Services said rain would continue to punctuate much of the month.
He said there would be a split between showers and warmer weather “at times”, with temperatures remaining comparatively high.

Highs could reach between 18C and 19C, reaching up to 20C maximum as the second half of April proves more pleasant than the first.
But these temperatures likely wouldn’t be sustained, Mr Dale added, with the country growing colder “from time to time” as the month wears on.
Those hoping to escape the country for a nicer climate across the English Channel are in luck, the forecaster said, with several destinations enjoying settled, warm weather.
Nations like France, Spain and Portugal are “ideal” for the season, making for a pleasant Easter holiday abroad.
But Eastern European nations like Romania or its neighbours in the Balkans could prove wet, Mr Dale said, with Iceland seeing similarly unpleasant weather.
