A 47-year-old man needed surgery after a drunken accident led to a water glass getting stuck in his rectum. He arrived at hospital and told doctors the object had been inside him for three days. The man initially said the glass had got there by accident, but later revealed that he had actually placed it there for sexual gratification.
As reported by the Journal of Nepal Medical Centre, the man was able to pass wind but hadn’t had a bowel movement for two days.
While he had not suffered from any bleeding, he was in a lot of pain.
He tried to remove the glass himself, but was unable to.
Doctors did X-rays on him before trying to remove the glass themselves.
However, they too were unable to remove the glass as it was inverted.
They then tried to move the glass out by squeezing the man’s lower intestine, a technique known as “milking”.
The Journal of Nepal Medical Centre explained: “Milking was attempted to deliver the glass through the anus, but this was unsuccessful as the glass was high up, inverted, and tightly wedged.
“Hence sigmoid enterostomy was done and the glass was extracted.”
An enterostomy is a surgical incision into an intestine, allowing doctors direct access to the glass.
After the procedure, the man remained in hospital for a week as he recovered.
Two months later, he had a check-up where doctors said he had recovered well.
