Famous Labrador who rode bus to dog park by herself every day dies of cancer

A Labrador in Seattle who found fame by riding the bus to the dog park and back alone each day has died from cancer.

Eclipse passed away at the age of 10 on Friday morning, just days after her owner Jeff Young revealed that a vet had found cancerous tumours.

Eclipse first found stardom in 2015 when she caught a bus by herself because Jeff was taking too long to finish a cigarette.

She managed to travel exactly where she was aiming for, having become familiar with the route by repeatedly going with Jeff, and even managed to get herself home safely.

“We get separated. She gets on the bus without me, and I catch up with her at the dog park,” Young told KOMO News.

From then on Eclipse would get on the bus near her house on 3rd Avenue West and West Mercer Street and travel several stops to the par, before returning home a few hours later.

Eventually Eclipse was rewarded with a permanent bus pass from the King County Metro, which was attached to her collar.

“All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does,” Tiona Rainwater, a commuter, told KOMO in 2015. “She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?”

Many fans shared their condolences on Eclipse's Facebook page.
