A woman who lost her limbs to sepsis has been told by docs to lose weight so she can undergo a double hand transplant.
Kim Smith spent a month in a coma after developing sepsis from a kidney infection while on holiday in Alicante, Spain, in late 2017, with her husband Steve.
Her limbs were amputated in February 2018 to save her life.
Now, she has revealed that she has been put on the waiting list for a hand transplant.
Writing on Facebook, ecstatic Kim wrote: "It’s with enormous happiness I can tell you I’ve been accepted for the hand transplant.
"Obviously this could take a very long time to get a match but I’m being put on the waiting list.
"I will now not keep on about it now, obviously I will be very considerate of the family of the donor & not be posting anything without guidance from the hospital.
"Just wanted to let you all know I’m so happy!"
She also revealed that she's lost 2.7 stone so far in preparation for her surgery, but still wants to lose more.
"I've not been able to shift any for ages but just want to keep trying because I'll be on steroids (after the surgery) and other medication which might affect my weight," she said.
The ex-hairdresser from Milton Keynes reportedly began to feel extreme chills and couldn't get herself warm in November 2017, although she had a strong fever.

Kim woke up in a daze at 4am on her holiday one morning, struggling for breath and feeling confused she was rushed to the emergency room on November 29, 2017.
She was quickly put into an induced coma after being diagnosed with severe sepsis.
There, doctors suspected she had contracted a UTI that turned into a kidney infection. Kim remained in the Spanish hospital for weeks before being transported back to the UK.
Two weeks after returning home Kim was taken out of her coma and tragically told she would have to lose all her limbs.
The doctors were not able to accurately tell what caused the sepsis as it was too far along by the time she was admitted to hospital.
When Kim woke from her coma, she saw that her limbs had become blackened and died.
The 60-year-old said she was 'not surprised' when doctors told her that all four of her limbs would have to be amputated straight away.
Speaking to MailOnline, Kim said: "I still live a good life. I've just been down to Devon to do an activity weekend with other amputees. I've done rock climbing, zip wires, canoeing and archery. I've even done a skydive.
"I think that maybe my life is even better now. It doesn't stop me from doing things – in fact, I've probably done more now."
She added: "It's made me realise that life is short, and you have to live it to its fullest. I enjoy every day."
